The Bush school is a private K-12 school with a mission to encourage students to find a "passion for learning, accomplishment, and contribution to their communities.”
The 95,000-square-foot expansion to the "lower school" will include a gymnasium, a K-5 classroom building, a new administration suite, a multipurpose room, new locker and weight rooms, and a playfield and playground above a 125-car underground parking garage that doubles as a pick up drop off cueing area.
Sited in the Madison Park neighborhood the building responds to the smaller scale, by creating a village of unique buildings around the central playground and play field. Each pavilion was given both a unique exterior expression as well as diverse exposed structural system to reinforce the village idea and provide a natural wayfinding for students.
The building includes a hybrid concrete and steel structural steel system with exposed glulam members at select areas. The primary exterior materials include brick veneer, exposed structural concrete and metal panel.
